Three Pakistani Crew Killed in Hijacked Ship Recovery Operation
Pakistan's foreign office confirms three nationals died as forces recovered a tanker from Somali pirates.
Pakistan's Foreign Office has confirmed three of its nationals were among five crew members killed during an operation to recover the hijacked oil tanker MT Honour 25 off the coast of Somalia. According to Dawn, the operation was carried out by the maritime police force of semi-autonomous Puntland.
The Foreign Office named the deceased Pakistani nationals as Rafiullah Khan, Syed Kashif Umer and Mahmood Ahmed Ansari. The Palau-flagged vessel had 19 crew members on board, including 10 Pakistanis.
Four crew members, including three Pakistanis, were injured and taken to a nearby hospital. The surviving crew have been brought safely ashore at Bandar Beyla in Puntland.
Pakistan's embassy team in Djibouti is proceeding to Bandar Beyla to assist its nationals, the Foreign Office stated.
